Nike’s ad campaign, Just Do It is one of my favorites of all time. And I’ll tell you another time what I like so much about it as an ad campaign, but it’s problematic when it comes to your business. So often activity is the priority and it’s, the activity is so important, but if it’s not based on direction, on purpose, then it’s a waste of effort and actually gets in the way of your progress. So I wanna suggest a two step shuffle for you and your business to really succeed with your do it.
First, Be.
First, take the time before the action to understand why you are here. You personally, but also more importantly maybe the team, your business, the entity. What is its purpose in the world? Why is it here and not here? Understanding that very clearly, it’s tempting to skip that step because it’s not action oriented. You don’t get that instant gratification of motion. But it, it drives the appropriate motion. So you have to start with who you are.
Then, Do.
Once you’ve got that figured out, go for it. Put it in gear and drive forward. The good news is if you do that be step first, everyone on the team is preloaded on where you’re going and the reason it’s important. And it just takes a lot of the resistance and startup effort off of your plate and the business moves faster and it adapts quicker to unexpected changes as well because everybody knows what the end goal is.
B2B Clarity:
So just do it, but make sure you know why you’re doing it in the first place.
