The CEOs Two Jobs

A CEO has two jobs in their company. And as a CEO you might be saying, you’re crazy. I have a lot more than two jobs. You may have a lot more initiatives and priorities and outcomes that you’re seeking, but there are two things that if you do well, you’ll succeed in your company will achieve its goals.

Vision:
Number one is vision. You are responsible for creating the direction, the destination that the company is all working together to achieve. Without that crisply defined, clearly communicated, and understood by everybody in the company and in the market, you will not have the success that you wanna achieve no matter how hard you work, no matter how hard your team works.

Execution:
And then the second piece is doing the work to achieve that vision, moving, helping the company move forward to deliver on that goal and move close to it may not ever get to the final destination, but move effectively towards it. It doesn’t mean you do the work, but you create an environment and the resources and the direction, division that allows the team to achieve its goals.

That’s it. It’s two ends, two poles of a magnet, if you will, where you’re going, the target, the destination, and help to get there. If you do that, all of those outcomes, all of those financial ROIs, all of those finish lines can be achieved.
