Does your company speak the language of business? It’s harder than you might think, and sadly, a lot of businesses are not fluent.
The Language of Science: Math:
I was speaking with my friend Andrew Beck the other day, and we were talking about the language of science, which you may have heard people talk about math as the way we express and share ideas and, uh, make sense of science. It’s a great perspective.
The Language of Operations: Data:
His view, coming from the operational background he comes from is that data in the same way is the language of operations. He talks a lot about manufacturing, but I think it’s true for all kinds of operations. And if you think about it, without data, without that information about how things are working, factual, observable data, it’s really difficult to express ideas to exchange, progress and make that work.
The Language of Business: Meaning
The language of business is meaning, and you may be skeptical, but let me explain what I mean. Businesses that are successful find a way to build a relationship with their customers. If you don’t have that, if you haven’t connected and created a relationship with your customers, business doesn’t transact. It creates that trust that’s necessary. Meaning is how those relationships get created because both sides have a reason, a shared meaning to invest time and build that trust that results in the transactions that grow your business. Your company has a purpose that is part of this equation, and your team needs that in order to bond and align and move forward together and be inspired to push through for success. Your market sees this meaning by your total uniqueness. You are the only one that does that thing you do in the way you do it, and that’s part of that meaning, that special meaning for your business. And for your customers, this shows up as value. They see something that they need or want to, to move their business forward, and it’s that meaning of value for them that makes that commitment and effort worthwhile.
B2B Clarity
So think about this in your business and how you communicate with all your stakeholders and make sure you’re speaking in the right language.
