Does meaning and purpose really matter in terms of growing your business? The numbers I see say yes. I’m writing a book, it’s coming out in two weeks, called Radical Clarity, which is focused on how accidental CEOs, those are leaders that started in a technical career and now in the CEO Seat succeed. And in doing the research for that book, I found some very compelling facts and statistics about the, the real ROI of having a meaningful, um, story embedded in your business. So I wanna share those with you in this video.
Higher Retention Rates
First, companies that have that meaning and purpose as part of their culture for their employees have a 40% higher level of retention than companies that don’t have that. That same study also said that those companies are three times more likely to retain talent.
Greater Employee Satisfaction
And on the satisfaction side, that study showed that 64% of employees are more satisfied with their jobs when that meaning and purpose are front and center in the business. Cone Communications did a study that said that purpose-driven employees were 54% more likely to stay with their company for five or more years.
Stronger Culture
And then from a culture standpoint, the Journal of Applied Psychology did a study and found that when leaders connect to an authentic purpose that’s meaningful to them personally, their teams are more likely to connect to a higher purpose at work as well.
B2B Clarity
All of that makes sense to me from what I’ve observed with the companies and the CEOs I’ve worked with. And I also wanna just add, there’s an agility benefit that I haven’t seen in the studies that is clear to me that when employees are on board with where the CEO wants to take the company, they can make decisions much more autonomously and boldly about things that are, they don’t have to wait for permission or wonder about what the right thing is to say.
The ROI Meaning of Valuation
So that’s my second video on ROI focused on employees. The third video coming soon is on valuation.
