My new book, Radical Clarity is launching in just a couple weeks. I’m real excited. It’s about Accidental CEOs. Those are technical experts that become company leaders and how they grow a business. And it’s largely centered on using clarity to tap into the true meaning and purpose that drives their business. And when I talk about that now, and then I’ll get eyes glazing over from CEOs because they think maybe that’s wishy-washy and it’s not technical enough. And maybe it’s not so important. I believe it’s one of the most potent tools for growth for accidental CEOs. And I’ve done some research and I wanna share some of the things I found that support that in the market. I’m gonna do three videos about the ROI of Meaning this one is about growth, revenue growth. So, pardon me, I’m gonna be looking down as I read some numbers and stats to be efficient but let’s get started.
3x Faster Revenue Growth
So, first, CEOs that tap into the power of meaning have companies that grow three times as fast as other companies. A Deloitte analysis found that purpose-driven companies achieved higher market share gains and grew three times faster on average than their competitors.
2x More Likely to Grow
Meaning driven CEOs also have companies that are two times more likely to grow. The study behind that was by EY Harvard Business Review, and it surveyed executives and found that 85% of companies with a clearly articulated purpose saw positive revenue growth over a three year period, while 42% of companies that didn’t showed stagnant or declining revenue.
Increased Customer Loyalty
Another benefit of growth is increased customer loyalty. Scholar Catherine Ella observed that companies look beyond the bottom line companies that look beyond the bottom line. By pursuing a broader mission, not only achieve more sales, but also garner greater customer loyalty in the long run. That’s from EthicalSystems.org. That loyalty can translate into repeat business and word of mouth and increase market share.
More Impactful Innovation
And then finally, having a meaningful center CEOs can actually have increased the amount of innovation and the quality of the innovation in their company. Harvard Business School Professor Gulati notes that companies with deep purpose use it as an organizing principle that guides strategy and innovation. This clarity helps them innovate in line with their mission and stay ahead of competitors. So, yes, innovation is something that almost every tech firm is doing, but the quality of the innovation is better with meaning driven companies.
B2B Clarity
So stay tuned. We’ll do two more videos like this on employee engagement and company valuation. The thing I wanna leave you with is meaning is meaningful for you as a CEO, and it’s worth your time to tap into the truth that’s driving you and that’s driving your business.
